  1. That looks like some fun, there...it must have been a little cold?

    Arkansas has green water, methinks.

  2. I'm with Staci. My rule is, "never kayak when you have to wear long sleeves."

  4. Looks like a good time! Which river? Glad you're refreshed!

  5. The Buffalo River. And, it wouldn't matter if it had been below zero. We were there, and they had water & canoes & kayaks, so we were going.

Thanks, y'all! Glad to be back. Kinda.

  6. Okay -- just saw the comments to previous post. I love floating the Buffalo. It's some kind of pretty place. Have you ever done the Mulberry? That one's a little more wicked in spots.

  7. Never have, Moogie. But, it's pretty close to the old fambly farm up in Franklin County where BIL lives now. Might give 'er a rip later this Summer.

  8. Glad you had a good trip. But the water in those pics looks more like "placid" than "certain death."

'Course that's what Lewis, Ed, Bobby and Drew thought at first, too.

  9. What did ya say to The Missus to make her get her own boat?

  10. Inno, the water wasn't nearly as rough as I expected. We didn't take pictures where it was.

Buck, we had never kayaked. But since we had Son #4 with us, two canoes were not practical. About five minutes into the trip she pulled up alongside and said, "Andy, I WANT ONE OF THESE!" It was love at first go-around.

Seattle Andy, it was fun indeed. But next time, I'm kayaking, too.

  12. In the 60's and 70's, my Grandfather had a farm where the Little Buffalo and the big Buffalo rivers met near Pruitt, AR. He was waiting for the Government to build the Eisenhower Dam and flood his lower field as a lake. When they decided to make it a natural river area and make it a park, he sold out and moved over to Rogers where the Beaver Lake was his front yard. The Buffalo river was fine for float trips in the spring but they became a drag not a float in late summer.

  13. Andy,
Looks like a lot of fun! And the weather was good (or it looks like it was)! Won't EVER be able to get my Mrs. into any sort of watercraft smaller then a cruise ship, so enjoy it. You said that was up in Ark? Got a 5th wheel now, so long weekend road trips are gonna be happening!!

  14. We have two kayaks, a double seater and a single. If we had it to do over, we would all have individual kayaks. They just move better.
