TIME TO GO BOWLING...

Okay y'all, the 40-something College Football Bowl games fire up this weekend. I'm glad. It was kinda tough last Saturday, but there was some pretty good small college ball.

You can get the full schedule right here.

Saturday features something called the Eagle Bank Bowl...obvious in need of a bailout. Then there is something called The New Mexico Bowl...wonder where they play that one? Then something I can't figure out called the magicJack St. Petersburg Bowl...I'm pretty sure where they play it, but I don't know what the heck magicJack is.

The only one that looks good to me is The Pioneer Bowl. BYU takes on Arizona...yep, Arizona. I pick BYU by 75 (78 to 3). The game is in the winter wonderland of Las Vegas which suits BYU. The Mormons won't be hitting the casinos. And Arizona sucks. I'm giving 'em 3 points because I give everybody 3 points.

Actually, the New Orleans Bowl on Sunday might be a pretty good game. It features Troy vs. Southern Miss...two good teams with state pride in play. I'm taking Troy by 3 (30-27).

Hang onto that link for the bowl schedule, because it does get more interesting later on. A few tips...skip the Independence Bowl (Louisiana Tech vs. Northern Illinois). On second thought you might want to watch it so you can tell your kids and grandkids, "I saw the last Independence Bowl ever!"

And I am SO LOOKING FORWARD to New Year's Eve when LSU plays Georgia Tech in the Chicken Bowl...dangit...well, maybe we can beat a bunch of brainiac engineers...dangit.

I'll keep y'all updated as the bowl season rocks along.

  1. How hard was it to link to The Four Letter? I surrendered my soul at the beginning of the college footbaw season because they put up that stupid scoreboard and it was really easy to simply cut-n-paste the html as the season progressed. Now, my body feels as if it is burning from the inside out because Satan is in me.

As far as bowls go, my favorite is the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl because the tickets have to be at least three feet by five feet to get the whole name on them. Or the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl, because I like saying Gaylord and Boston College together. It's so fitting.

  2. Ha Ha Ha, TD...I'm laughing too hard to comment...

I never thought of it as a four-letter-word before, but that is fitting, too.
