The Edict Comes Down From Yours Truly...

.

Note:  If you have a blog hosted on Wordpress, or Typepad this will not apply to you.  Your comments are already too hard to subscribe to.  I have to hit the "subscribe to comments" button dealie...then  I have to wait for an e-mail to confirm if I really do want to subscribe (sheesh...I wouldn't have hit that button dealie if I didn't really want to).  Then, when somebody else comments, about four days later I get an e-mail telling me that somebody else did...and it has a very unfriendly format.  Just sayin'...  So, this does not apply to you.  It applies to Globbers that host their work on Globber.

Okay...we won't really call this an "edict."  Let's just call it a friendly suggestion/desperate request.

If you have a Globber Glob, and I am one of your regular readers, please make some changes in your settings.

I may have mentioned it before in passing...I CAN NOT SUBSCRIBE TO COMMENTS ON MANY OF MY REGULAR BLOG READS, so I need to request that y'all make some changes in your settings.

Seems that The Globber has disabled comment subscription if your blog is set to show comments in a pop-up window.  Why, I do not know.  But, they have.  So, we must adjust, adapt, and overcome.

Please go in to "Design."  Then click on "Settings."  Then click on "Comments."  Please scroll down the page to where it says, "Comment Form Placement."  Then, click the little dotty block that says, "Embedded below post."

It should look like this:  (As always, click on it for the big picture)

If y'all would ALL do that, it would make my blogging life so WAY MUCH EASIER!

I can then subscribe to comments on your posts.  And, I'm addicted to subscriptions.  Can't help it.  It's not my fault.  I'm sure I'm a victim, or something.

"Thank you for your time.  You've been so much more than kind.  You can keep the dime."

  1. Gee! I already had my setting done like that and didn't really even know it!

    You're welcome!

    "Operator."

  2. Yeah, Moogie, yours was one of them that I could subscribe to. But, there is work to do here. I had to change my own, and I've got about a dozen Globbers I read that haven't gotten the word yet.

    Or, don't care.

    Shame on 'em!

    Good catch, Operator.

  3. Dapper Dan (holding hand up): Mr. Andy, is my blog okay? I can't tell for sure because I don't have a "design" on my dashboard. I do have a "setting" and a "comment" and a "comment location," but then it just says "embedded" not "embedded below post." I believe I'm okay, but not sure.

O yeah. Since my hand is up, can I go to the restroom?

Seriously, I want to make you happy because my stats tell me that you are second only the Gooble itself in sending me referrals. Thanks for that.

  4. You did this just to piss me off, and I KNOW you did. Even after I did what was right and structured my comments to comply with your desires, EVEN BEFORE YOU ASKED.

And then you gotta quote schlock and make it blink, just to be in my face. OK, noted. Lemmee remind ya: payback is a bee-yotch.

  5. Inno...Nyuk! Double Nyuk!!!

Dan, you're ALL GOOD. I can subscribe to yours with no trouble (and, I am thankful for that). So go ahead on and take a whizz, and you shall receive two blue privilege tokens to boot. If the "Hall Monitor" stops you, drop my name. Tell him that "Mr. Andy forgot to give me a hall pass." That should work.

Buck, you lost me. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT.

  6. Good thing I don't write anything worthy of having subscribers, eh? Scammers only tolerate me until they see what I dun to their emails.

Jim Croce. Isn't that the way these things go?

  8. Look, I've already been whinin' over at Buck's about his comment thangie. When I go to his comments, it drops his blog page. If I want to go back and read more or listen to his tunes while commenting, it is a pain in the butt. Now on your's, it opens up a whole new page, but leaves the old page in place. Why is that? Are you two just messin' with me?

  11. Buck, not to split hairs here...but I didn't say it with a straight face.

I typed it with crooked fingers. Just sayin'...

  12. I'm good to go. You can visit again.

It's very irritating. You'd think there would be a simple piece of code you could add to return this functionality to the other comment formats, but none of the things I was able to find worked :-(

Don't cuss nobody out, okay?
