SPREAD THE WEALTH? A HISTORY LESSON...

Growing up in Louisiana, I learned a lot about Huey Long. Being from a conservative family, what I heard from my parents and grandparents was mostly negative. But in "Louisiana Studies" in Junior High School, my teacher had more information to give. Don't get me wrong...Mrs. Peak found him and his policies to be repulsive...but she taught me much more about him.

When I was a Freshman at Louisiana Tech in 1978, I took "Louisiana History." My fabulous professor, Dr. Peoples, was a true historian of the State of LA. He was old, and his knowledge of Long and his kinfolks was truly fascinating.

Well, it seems that Huey Long's granddaughter, and great granddaughter are just thrilled to death that the subject of "spreading the wealth" has come up in this Presidential campaign.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune ran a piece that is kind of interesting. It highlights some differences in the Kingfish and King Obama. If you're interested you can read it at: Obama is no Huey Long
