...pero mi casa tiene una nueva azotea!
That's right y'all! It took 3 Mexicans from 7 am until after 5 pm to put a new hat on Andy's house. I swear, those old boys wore me out just watching 'em.
This is a rear view of the house. I had to climb a pecan tree to take this shot (not really, I have an apartment above my garage, and just stood on the landing). But you can see on the right how steep the pitch is on the roof that runs the length of the front of the house. Those old boys just climbed that rascal like mountain goats. SCARED.ME.SILLY.
But they did a bang-up job (pun intended)! The guy that owns the company is my neighbor across the street, and I noticed whenever he would leave to go check on another job that his fellows would kinda take a rest. But that's okay. That roofing is hot, hard work. And it was in the upper 80's yesterday. I reckon you get used to it, but that's tough work.
As they were finishing up, a storm was blowing in, so my neighbor got up there to help finish, and I volunteered for clean-up crew (there must have been 20 empty Gatorade bottles in the yard...it was hot on that black beauty). We beat the rain by about 2 minutes. Whew! So, mission accomplished! Don't it purty????
If you look close in the bottom right hand corner of the picture you will see two white poles standing in front of my office window. Those are the poles thathold held a 16 x 9 foot awning that was destroyed the night we cheated certain death. I gave the awning guy his deposit on Friday, and he got the package ordered. So, everything ought to be put back together by late next week.
Well, just thought I'd give y'all an update seeing as so many hundreds have inquired. Love y'all! Have a good Momma's Day... If your Momma's living give her a call (and don't rush off the phone), or go see her if you can. If she's in Heaven, just think on all the good stuff you can remember.
Oh, I forgot to tell y'all about meeting up with old friends from high school yesterday morning, but I'll do that in another post.
