Farm kids...

HA! I got a good chuckle this afternoon. Staci (our resident expert on all things Okie) posted a "Corn Maze For Blondes." If you've never been in a corn maze, you won't laugh. But I did.

That got me to thinking about this file of photos I have been holding on to for about 38 years. Probably just two months...maybe...probably not. Anyway, I'm dumping stuff, and her post made me think about all the good times to be had by kids out in "the heartland."

The computer letter that contained these photos was entitled, "When Farm Kids Get Bored." Now, I was not raised on a farm. I grew up in town. But we did have cows. In Town! Can you believe that?

It's the truth!

Regardless, I thought all 12 of y'all might enjoy looking at what farm kids do when they get bored.

Build a castle/fort/whatever!

Cheer for their team!

Mock stupid haystacks!

Build hay guys that do their work for 'em!

Dream of getting DishNetwork!

Dream of going to the County Fair!

Dream of owning wooden shoes!

Dream of going into space!
(and scaring the poop out of the cattle)

Dream of...well, I don't know what this one is. I mean, it looks like an airplane with an ice cream cone, but I'm not sure.

Dabble in Druidism...
(I guess this crowd missed Sunday School)

Well, I finally got these pictures dumped. My work here is done.

  1. Much better than sandcastles, I say!

The only hay sculpture I've ever seen personally was one up in northwest Okie last year - each bale had a letter on it and if I remember right, it said OBAMA IS A MORON or something like that.....

  2. Those are just awesome! Best hay art that can be found 'round my house is when the dogs scruff it up inside their houses...

Not quite the same, is it? :)
