Grumpy Tuesday...

I woke up in a foul mood! There are several factors at work that I lay blame to.

1) It's so freakin' col...oh wait...I said I was through bitchin' about that. Okay.

2) I didn't sleep worth jack! I laid down to watch the Boise v. TCU Fiesta Bowl last night. I fell asleep just before halftime, and did not wake back up until the beginning of the 4th quarter. After the game was over, I shut the tube off, and spent the next 6 hours tossing and turning, before finally falling asleep about an hour before time to get up.

A nap can really mess up a good night's sleep, huh?

3) It's that time of year again. Yep, it's "Psoriasis time." As you long-time visitors to Andy's Place know, I am afflicted with Psoriasis. And, it is time for my annual outbreak. As usual, it has begun on the ring finger of my right hand. Strange that...for the last several years, it always picks the same spot to rear it's ugly head.

The aggravating thing about it is that I have to use that hand in my work, and when it makes it's annual arrival, that finger swells to the point that it's quite painful to use. And, I can only start treating it after it finally breaks through the skin...which will be a few more days now.

Here's my lovely photo from last season. This was taken after I started getting better, and the swelling was down.

No need to thank me...

So, I woke up grumpy. But then I saw something that really put a smile on my face, and turned my frown upside down. Buck, over at Exile in Portales has posted a video of a bunch of ex-college football greats that went over to Iraq, and played a football game with some of our troops over the Holidays. The trip was sponsored by Tostitos, in conjunction with the USO.

When I saw it over there, I thought, "15 minutes? Man, I don't usually watch 15 minute videos." But, I am glad that I did. It really made me feel like a wuss for bitchin' so much about little inconveniences, and junk while our brave men and women put up with all they do.

Sort of the old, "I griped about my ingrown toe nail, until I saw a man with no feet..." Well, that ain't exactly how it goes, but you know what I'm talking about.

So, I have decided to have a good day. I have decided to "get over it." In the words of my beloved Momma, I have decided to "Smile, Luigi!" (I don't know the origin of that, but she always said it...maybe you do)

So, y'all have a good one out there. My typing is a little off today, due to the tremendous pain in my Psoriasis finger, and the fact that all the rest of my fingers are frozen, and that I didn't get a decent night sleep, and all. But, I love y'all too much to not at least wish you a blessed day. Even though, it's painful. Really. It is.

Painful.

  1. Andy,

This is a long shot, but worth a try for your Psoriasis.

Brew up a cup of Chamomile tea and soak the affected area.

  2. Anon, thanks for the tip. I think we have some of that. I treat it with 3% Salicylic acid greasy stuff, but only after it breaks the skin.

Maybe Chamomile will help. I'll give it a try.

  3. Ow. Sorry about the psoriasis, and I know from whence you speak, second-hand. I had a girlfriend in the recent past who was so afflicted and it can get ugly. I hope the pre-outbreak phase is short and you can get on with the remediation.

Thanks yet again for the linky-lurve!

  4. I'd like to know if psoriasis is truly heartbreaking or if it's just an urban myth...

In any case, get well soon!!

  6. And oh yeah, thanks Dadman! It shall pass, after treatment as it does each winter.

I'm just grateful that over the last several years it has confined itself to the hand. That chest dealie was a REAL pain.
