From Cowdad:
Norwegian Icebreaker heads up the Mississippi River
As you may have seen on the news, it's been very cold in Minnesota. So cold, in fact, that the U.S. Corps of Engineers has borrowed a Norwegian icebreaker to clear the Mississippi River for freighter traffic. The icebreaker is starting near Winona and working its way northward.

Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result if the definition of insanity. Why do I ever - ever - click on a link that you put up?!
ReplyDeleteEEW! Andy that's disgusting (ya right, like I've never seen anything like it before). Thanks for the morning giggle.
ReplyDeleteJimbo, I reckon that's one of them great mysteries of your psyche that can only be answered by months, if not years, of intense psychoanalysis.
ReplyDeleteDeb, I bet y'all got folks in Canada that do that stuff all the time.
Heh. Them North-weegians are TOUGH motor-scooters.
ReplyDeleteThis one had me scratching my head after reading it! Winona ain't no where near the MS. River!!! In fact Winona ain't near much of anything!!
ReplyDeletePardon my ignorance, I was thinking about the great state of Mississippi, there is indeed a winona, Mn. Well duh. I'll go sit in the corner now!
ReplyDeleteDon't be so hard on yourself, Scooney...as graduate of the great Mississippi State University, I too was thinking of Winona (it being relatively close to Starkville and all). Anyway, this is a lesson: always read the comments before clicking on any of Andy's links.
ReplyDeleteIt be chilly.
Hi Andy - Sorry I took so long to return your Happy New Year. Here's wishing a Happy New Year to you and all of yours. I'm still catching up from a Christmas that wouldn't quit and a "vacation" that felt like it would never end.
ReplyDeleteMom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again, yanno?
Anyways, thanks for the two funny shots - esp the FU to winter. Had 12-18" of "heart attack" snow yesterday. Ugh. I don't hate it, per se, but it's still a lot of shoveling. Gimme 2 feet of powder any day.
Glad to hear that things are at least reasonably ok on the family front, as well, esp re: son #3 cheating death. Yikes. I just can't wait for mine to drive. Oy.
Believe me, I try not to yell at them over spilt milk and such for just that reason.
Best wishes to you and your family for 2011. May you find all the blessings you need when you need 'em.
Scooney, as Boogie said, don't sweat it. I knew EXACTLY what you were thinking, because I thought the same thing myself at first reading.
ReplyDeleteCricket, you are spot on, my friend. They grow up SO quickly, and give us REAL reason to fret! I actually thought about you when I posted the snow sculpture...not the icebreaker, though. ;)
