FAHRENHEIT- 911...QUICK, I'TS GETTING COLD!

This is worth a look. Some Irish filmmakers are producing a (let me get my word book...) documentary that challenges Al Grover and his stupid global warming junk. They've got a computer page trying to raise some support for their film so they can finish it up. They've got a preview video up there. It seems odd to me to be looking for contributions to make a film, but what doesn't seem odd nowadays?

The article from Irish Times: Film-makers taking on our "global warming hysteria"

From the article:

A new Irish film claims that climate change guru Al Gore is an alarmist and that those who think they are saving the planet are only hurting the poor

IF THE ADVANCE publicity is anything to go by, Not Evil Just Wrong will do for Al Gore what Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 did for George W Bush.

"This is the film Al Gore and Hollywood don't want you to see," declares the website for the latest work by film-makers Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer. The site even features a big picture of Gore, with his lips in the photograph seemingly digitally enhanced to make them look like Heath Ledger's Joker from the latest Batman film.

The website goes on to say that their latest film - which takes on what are described as global warming alarmists - is "the most controversial documentary of the year". Indeed, it could very well be the most controversial. And Al Gore and Hollywood may well not want you to see it. And in that respect, Gore and co are actually succeeding for the moment. Because there is no completed film. Not yet anyway.

Heck, I've got a PayPal account. I might just donate and take a chance with these Irish folks. One of my favorite films ever, "Zombie Genocide" is an Irish film...if this one is as good as that, I'd be proud to be a part of it...

HOLY CRAP BATMAN!!!

BARKSDALE AFB CREW HONORED

I live less than a mile from Barksdale Air Force Base. It is a great honor to my city to be the home of the B-52s. They are impressive flying machines. And some pretty impressive people fly them.

Entire article from The Times of Shreveport:
Lost Barksdale Crew Honored At Arlington National Cemetery

Five Barksdale Air Force Base fliers killed in the crash of their B-52 bomber near Guam in July were honored Friday through a burial service at Arlington National Cemetery.

The crew, which had the call sign Raider 21, perished with a sixth member from the command staff at Andersen Air Force Base, the Guam air power bastion wheir their bomber, "Louisiana Fire," had deployed to be part of a continuous bomber presence in the western Pacific.

The service with full military honors, described by Arlington representatives as "burial of the commingled remains recovered from the accident," included escorts, a band, an honor guard, a horse-drawn caisson to carry a casket, a bugler to play taps and a flyover by fellow members of the 20th Bomb Squadron at Barksdale.

Rest in peace, gentlemen. Thank you for your service.

TIGERS SURVIVE...BEAT TROJANS?

Well, it wasn't pretty. In fact it was mud ugly, but my beloved LSU Tigers survived what would have been the biggest disappointment in an already tough season.

Mid-way through the third quarter, The Trojans (not USC...Troy) lead LSU 31-3...yep, 31-3. It was 31-10 Troy as the 4th quarter started. The Tiger "faithful" had mostly abandoned the stadium and headed to drown their sorrows at the Baton Rouge watering holes I guess.

I reckon we had wore Troy down though. My beloved Tigers clicked off 30 points in the 4th to avoid total seasonal failure. Well, we're 7-3 now. It could be worse I guess, but sadly, it should be much better. Oh well...Even this win is disappointing in a way. In our losses to Georgia, and 'Bama we dominated in the stats (Florida killed us)...but not against the Mighty Men of Troy. We got lucky. But then, it was time for a little bit of luck.

We've still got Ole Miss (a good team), and Arkansas (not so good this year). If we play like we can we should end up 9-3. That's not bad in the SEC. Even at 8-4 we should get a pretty good bowl game. We'll see.

THINK WHIRLED PEAS! I'M ALL FOR IT...JUST A COUPLE OF PROBLEMS...

So, it seems that the high-tech crowd has decided to launch a plan to bring peace to the world. Good for them!...and good luck!

This article, World asked to help craft online charter for religious harmony, has all the details.

Basically, what these people want to do is achieve world peace by bringing all religions together in "perfect harmony." (Wasn't that a commercial for Coca-Cola way back?)

This is funny:

Armstrong's wish is to combine universal principles of respect and compassion into a charter based on a "golden rule" she believes is at the core of every major religion.

The Golden Rule essentially calls on people to do unto others as they would have done unto them.

"The chief task of our time is to build a global society where people of all persuasions can live together in peace and harmony," Armstrong said.

"If we do not achieve this, it seems unlikely that we will have a viable world to hand on to the next generation."

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for whirled peas. The problem is that this chick is starting with the stupid notion that all religions believe in the golden rule.

I can just see some of the submissions they get to their stupid web-site. "Hello, my name is Abdullah, and I sent my 14 year-old son onto a bus with a bomb to kill Israeli mothers and babies. I wish that you would do the same unto me! Please strap Jewish children with bombs and send them into the West Bank to kill my wife and children...trust me, there will be virgins awaiting them."

The notion that the internet can bring about harmony is just really ridiculous, and a waste of time. If the high tech Google crowd wants to bring about harmony, how about starting with the vicious, hate-filled, left-wing here in the US that wished for the murder of Bush, applauded when Falwell died, laughed when Republicans got caught up in sex scandals, etc. I'm sure that they will be the first to sign up...yea, they really believe in treating others as they'd like to be treated!

This Anderson gal doesn't understand that very, very few humans really believe in the Golden Rule. She is starting her cut with a crooked blade. The Golden Rule is not at the core of every major religion. Even if it was, human nature almost always wins out. It is the nature of us 7 billion humans to do what is in our own interest. The whole thing is ignorant!

I'm glad I sold my Google stock...

WON'T YOU FILL UP JACK BENNY...WON'T YOU FILL UP?

Okay, I'm pretty sure that was from a Texaco commercial when I was a kid. But Exxon will have to do.

The Exxon station around the corner from me today, Saturday, Nov. 15:

I'll take a gallon!

IT "WAS" A BEAUTIFUL DAY...

What a glorious day we had in Northwest Louisiana. The weather "was" fabulous.

Me and The Mrs. went to this really unique food place called "Olive Garden" in Shreveport for lunch. We had to drive all the way across the Jimmy Davis Bridge to get there. But it was worth it! I'll tell ya'll, those salad greens were fresh...those skinny bread loaves were just right...and that eggplant parmesan was almost as good as The Mrs. cooks (don't tell her I said that...I told her it was terrible).

When we got home it "was" in the upper 70's. I "was" wearing shorts, a right-side-out T-shirt, and barefoot.

At about 4:30 this afternoon it started raining. It just rained for a couple of minutes. Now, at 7:30 pm the wind is howling, the temperature is dropping, the pecan trees in the yard are threatening my roof with their swaying (some cracking off) branches.

Crud...I hate cold weather. But here it comes...

I hate cold weather.

JOE..."SNAKE" HUSSEIN OUT BOY!

A blog that I visit regularly posted Joe The Plumber's computer page.

If y'all haven't figured it out yet, one of the things that most gave me the reds about Hussein's campaign was how they attacked an innocent, hard-working American plumber.

I've seen this before. Bubba and his bunch were the masters. But I have a feeling that Hussein's Chicago mob might (let me get my word book...) eclipse the Clintonistas. They've got half of his henchmen, and all their own. They might fall kinda short of Bubba's crowd though...they don't have my man Hillary on their team (yet).

Anyway, here is Joe's computer page.

PREDICTION FROM AN OLD GUY...

I got a very short computer letter from a dear friend. He's an old guy, and has seen a lot.

Hi Andy,

Political afterthought:

"It's going to be bad around here when the cows come home to roost."

Love, Old Guy

TRUE...

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, who's hand was caught
in the gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man.

Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his election to president.

The old rancher said, 'Well, ya know, Obama is a 'Post Turtle''.

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a 'post turtle' was.

The old rancher said, 'When you're driving down a country road and you come across a
fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'post turtle'.

The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain.

'You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there,
and he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there to begin with'.

HUSSEIN TO RESIGN SENATE SEAT...

Well, I guess it was inevitable. Hussein is going to resign from the US Senate (was he ever there?) I don't think it's legal to be born in Africa, register voters 57 times, help ruin your local school system, partner up with admitted terrorists and wack-job preachers, never show up in the US Senate, and be President-elect at the same time. So, he has to resign from one of these. I guess he decided to quit the one job he never did...representing the folks of Illinois in the US Senate.

Man, we are in deep dookie...

WASHINGTON--President-elect Barack Obama will step down from his U.S. senate seat on Sunday, he said in a statement on Thursday. All political eyes in Illinois are on Gov. Rod Blagojevich to see who he will select to replace Obama for the two years remaining in his term. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) has been the most overt in positioning himself, but other frontrunners include Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) and Illinois Veterans Affairs Chief Tammy Duckworth, who Obama appeared with on Veterans Day.

"It has been one of the highest honors and privileges of my life to have served the people of Illinois in the United States Senate. In a state that represents the crossroads of a nation, I have met so many men and women who've taken different journeys, but hold common hopes for their children's future.

I think Governor Rod Blagojevich ought to appoint Rev. Wright to finish out President-elect Hussein's term...or Bill Ayers...or maybe Bill Daley (looks like he might be looking for another job soon). The good people of Illinois should be very, very proud!

WITH LEATHER HELMETS...

Y'all know that I love my LSU Tiger football.

Man, I wish we had Doc Fenton right now...we really need a quarterback. It would be kinda cool to watch a movie star-type play with a leather helmet today. I wonder if those behemoth defensive linemen would slow down, or speed up... Here are some great photos of football stars in the leather helmet days. Take a look at 'em...trust me, you'll be glad you did!

Good article for all LSU fans...and really for college football fans everywhere.

Excerpt from the book Eye of the Tiger by Marty Mule’

“Doc” was his name and football was very definitely his game.

It’s a name that will live as long as his game is played at LSU.

George Ellwood “Doc” Fenton was an extraordinary athlete with matinee idol looks. Known as the “Artful Dodger” on the fanciful sports pages of the day, and at other times called “the Kandy Kid,” Fenton was universally known as “Doc” because his father traveled as a singer with an old time Indian medicine show.

More:

Consider this: The Tigers, in an era of the five-point touchdown, were actually close to achieving “point-a-minute” status. LSU scored 442 points in 450 minutes, and surrendered only one touchdown in their 10-0-0 season. Even a safety LSU gave up was hardly earned. It came at Auburn, and Fenton said, “I was kicking from behind my own goal, and an Auburn tackle broke through to block it. The ball was bouncing around, so I picked it up and was getting ready to run it out when a fan reached over the rope and cracked me over the head with a cane. It knocked me cold.”

IS ROMAN CATHOLIC LEADERSHIP GETTING SERIOUS?

I'm not Roman Catholic, so there is a whole lot about Roman Catholicism that I don't know. And, I don't understand a whole lot I do know about it. But I respect, and agree with a whole lot of their stances...especially when it comes to the demonic practice of aborticide!

It has always puzzled me that The Roman Catholic church does not forcefully discipline their adherent lawmakers that support abortion rights. Guys like Tom Daschle, Joe Biden, my worthless Senator Mary Landrieu, Nancy Pelosi, and hundreds of others on the national, State, and local levels of government...while maybe not advocates for that dastardly criminal practice, clearly are not willing to follow their church teachings, and decry it...even less willing to move against it legislatively. In truth, some of them are all for it, clearly in violation of their church doctrine.

Now, I'm not talking theocracy here, but the responsibility of any church is to speak prophetically to the nations, to call evil "evil,"..."to speak truth to power" if you will.

This article Catholic bishops will fight Obama on abortion is interesting. The whole article is worth a read. I really wonder...If communion was denied to pro-choice Roman Catholic legislators by their Bishops, would it change their political behavior? I wonder...

Read the whole article. The lead quote:

BALTIMORE (AP) - The nation's Roman Catholic bishops vowed Tuesday to forcefully confront the Obama administration over its support for abortion rights, saying the church and religious freedom could be under attack in the new presidential administration.

In an impassioned discussion on Catholics in public life, several bishops said they would accept no compromise on abortion policy. Many condemned Catholics who had argued it was morally acceptable to back President-elect Obama because he pledged to reduce abortion rates.

And several prelates promised to call out Catholic policy makers on their failures to follow church teaching.

T-SHIRTS...

For almost 30 years, The Mrs. has put up with one thing that just gripes the crud out of her...inside out T-shirts. She has stewed, and fussed, and tried to teach me, all of our sons, and all of the other boys that have lived with us to just turn our danged T-shirts "right side out" before we throw 'em in the hamper.

It is inconsiderate for sure. It makes her clothes-folding job harder, and aggravating. So, about a year ago she just started folding the T-shirts just like they come out of the dryer...no turning 'em right side out anymore. And, sure enough, all us boys are doing better now.

So yesterday afternoon she was busy baking Oatmeal Bread, and changing the plugs on my truck when the dryer finished. So I decided to fold the clothes. And there it was...my blue T-shirt turned inside-out. I had done it again! So she walks in the laundry room just as I'm turning it right-side-out to fold...and lo, and behold...it was her T-shirt!

I looked at her and said, "Well Baby, it took 30 years, but all us boys finally dragged you over to the dark side. You are OURS now."

Made the Mrs. laugh!

YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS STUFF UP...

Okay, I read this article...I thought it was from The Onion. But it's not. It comes from England, so it must be true.

However, I'm scratching my rapidly balding head wondering if I'm being "played" by a bunch of Brits...

8,000 Beduins stake their claim as the lost tribe of Barack Obama
A sheikh in Galilee says he has evidence that he and his family are linked by blood to the new President

Be sure and watch the video...too rich!

A quote from the article:

“We knew about it years ago but we were afraid to talk about it because we didn’t want to influence the election,” Abdul Rahman Sheikh Abdullah, a 53-year-old local council member, told The Times in the small Beduin village of Bir al-Maksour in the Israeli region of Galilee. “We wrote a letter to him explaining the family connection.”

Mr Obama’s team have not responded to the letter so far but that has not dampened Sheikh Abdullah’s festivities.

He has been handing out sweets and huge dishes of baklava traditional honey-sweetened pastries to all and sundry, and plans to hold a large party next week at which he will slaughter a dozen goats to feed the village.

Poor goats...

DANGER, WILL ROBINSON!!!! DANGER!!!!

Shazzaaaaaammmmmmm!

MY BEST STOCK MARKET MOVE EVER...

Well, it seems that Google share prices have just about halved recently.

I'm glad I sold my shares when it was $180...I was definitely ahead of the curve.

I'M PROUD OF MY STATE...AND MY TOWN!

I'm proud to be a Louisianian! I love it, even with all our problems. I've traveled a good bit, but never have I met better hard-working folks anywhere. Now, I know that's all up for debate, and you probably think your State has better folks... But the food, the culture, the unique racial mix, the weather...all of it...there just ain't no place like it. And I love it.

We can be pretty ignorant about a lot of things. Louisiana usually ends up at 49th, or 51st on all the "bad" lists...education, poverty, good places to do business, etc. And heck, we elected Edwin Edwards 7 or 8 times or something as Governor. We voted for Bubba Clinton twice for President. We actually elected Kathleen "Blank Check" Blanco as Governor, and New Orleans has been a cesspool for 50 years under the leadership of Moon Landrieu, Marc Morial, and now Ray (G.D. Greyhound) Nagin. I've always wished that we could just slice off the Southeast corner of Louisiana at I-10, to somewhere around 10 miles West of Baton Rouge, and let 'em be a State of their own. Then the rest of us wouldn't be pulled down...but I guess it ain't gonna happen.

But things are changing, and I'm proud for it. We elected my good buddy Bobby Jindal as Governor...and probably the proudest moment I've had lately was Nov. 4. Louisiana voted for John McCain over Hussein 59% to 40%. Of course, we screwed ourselves by re-electing our worthless, two-faced Senator Mary Landrieu...but that's another story. I guess progress comes along slow.

And I'm proud of my town. Business Week magazine went out and found the best city in each State to raise young'uns. They looked at a bunch of stuff like the quality of the schools, lack of crime, and churches, and a whole bunch of junk. There were some commonly well-known towns on the list. Phoenix, AZ (where I have a good buddy that has raised a great family), Columbus, OH (where my #2 son lives...I hope he'll raise a great family there one day), etc. But my town, Bossier City, LA was figured to be the best place to raise young'uns in the Bayou State.

I have to agree. I was born and raised right here. I left, but something about my town drew me back. I've raised 4 sons here (well, The Mrs. has, for the most part), and I can't imagine it would have been easier anywhere else.

I sure don't ever like to brag on myself, but dang...I was raised here...that oughta be evidence enough that these Business Week folks are currekt!

PAGLIA HITS THE NAIL ON THE NOGGIN...

I found this passage from a long article by the lib Camille Paglia to be very interesting. The entire article discusses her take on the election, and the media coverage of it.

Given that Obama had served on a Chicago board with Ayers and approved funding of a leftist educational project sponsored by Ayers, one might think that the unrepentant Ayers-Dohrn couple might be of some interest to the national media. But no, reporters have been too busy playing mini-badminton with every random spitball about Sarah Palin, who has been subjected to an atrocious and at times delusional level of defamation merely because she has the temerity to hold pro-life views.

How dare Palin not embrace abortion as the ultimate civilized ideal of modern culture? How tacky that she speaks in a vivacious regional accent indistinguishable from that of Western Canada! How risible that she graduated from the State University of Idaho and not one of those plush, pampered commodes of received opinion whose graduates, in their rush to believe the worst about her, have demonstrated that, when it comes to sifting evidence, they don't know their asses from their elbows.

Liberal Democrats are going to wake up from their sadomasochistic, anti-Palin orgy with a very big hangover. The evil genie released during this sorry episode will not so easily go back into its bottle. A shocking level of irrational emotionalism and at times infantile rage was exposed at the heart of current Democratic ideology -- contradicting Democratic core principles of compassion, tolerance and independent thought. One would have to look back to the Eisenhower 1950s for parallels to this grotesque lock-step parade of bourgeois provincialism, shallow groupthink and blind prejudice.

I like Sarah Palin, and I've heartily enjoyed her arrival on the national stage. As a career classroom teacher, I can see how smart she is -- and quite frankly, I think the people who don't see it are the stupid ones, wrapped in the fuzzy mummy-gauze of their own worn-out partisan dogma. So she doesn't speak the King's English -- big whoop! There is a powerful clarity of consciousness in her eyes. She uses language with the jumps, breaks and rippling momentum of a be-bop saxophonist. I stand on what I said (as a staunch pro-choice advocate) in my last two columns -- that Palin as a pro-life wife, mother and ambitious professional represents the next big shift in feminism. Pro-life women will save feminism by expanding it, particularly into the more traditional Third World.

As for the Democrats who sneered and howled that Palin was unprepared to be a vice-presidential nominee -- what navel-gazing hypocrisy! What protests were raised in the party or mainstream media when John Edwards, with vastly less political experience than Palin, got John Kerry's nod for veep four years ago? And Gov. Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas, for whom I lobbied to be Obama's pick and who was on everyone's short list for months, has a record indistinguishable from Palin's. Whatever knowledge deficit Palin has about the federal bureaucracy or international affairs (outside the normal purview of governors) will hopefully be remedied during the next eight years of the Obama presidencies.

The U.S. Senate as a career option? What a claustrophobic, nitpicking comedown for an energetic Alaskan -- nothing but droning committees and incestuous back-scratching. No, Sarah Palin should stick to her governorship and just hit the rubber-chicken circuit, as Richard Nixon did in his long haul back from political limbo following his California gubernatorial defeat in 1962. Step by step, the mainstream media will come around, wipe its own mud out of its eyes, and see Palin for the populist phenomenon that she is.

I THOUGHT SATURDAY WAS A BAD DAY FOR ME...

Crud! Man, I felt bad when my beloved LSU Tigers threw away a victory against Alabama. But at least I'm still breathing.

NBC Sports reports:

2 Dead in spat over Alabama-LSU, Witnesses Say

A quote from the article:

"An investigator said alcohol may have been a factor. (You reckon?)

According to witnesses, Dennis Smith called Williams after the game, and the Smiths went to Williams’ home, where a fight led to the shooting. Dennis Smith had a pistol and Williams had a shotgun, authorities said.

In the phone call, someone reportedly said, “Alabama just got lucky and LSU should have won,” though it wasn’t clear who said it.

Booker said Smith “jumped out of his truck and hit Williams.”

Odom said the Smiths were driving to another town to visit a family member and he didn’t know why they stopped at Williams’ home.

He said Donna Smith had just called her mother to talk about the game.

“Everything was cool,” he said. “Next thing we know, they’re dead.”

Roll Tide, Roll !!!!
