We have a wiener!
.
Blog buddy, Staci, correctly identified our mystery fruit. I had to steal The Mayor's standard prize, and award her the internet, along with full access to all it's features.
Congrats, Staci!
It is indeed a quince. I was gonna shoot a picture of my quince, but it is not blooming, so I stole one somewhere. My bush is just about this size, and bearing fruit.
Seriously, I've never seen one do it.
Okay, this is what it looks like on the inside...
(This is related to the previous post)
Nancy had asked for a cut view of this mystery fruit. So, as always, we oblige.
And, I'll tell y'all I dang near needed a hacksaw to do it. Just sayin'...
The Mrs. was surprised, too. She told me that she'd heard of this type of "jelly," but never had any. So, she went looking on the worldwide computer, and sure enough, there is. It says that normally you want to wait until after frost to harvest these things, because then they're not hard like rocks.
But these fell off. Actually, I think it's Phil's cat that's been knocking 'em off. She's been hanging out under that bush the last couple of days.
It looks like an apple, and there must be 40 tiny little seeds in the middle. If nobody figures it out by tonight, I'll just post a picture of the bush, and then you will all know. Unless you're ignurnt...

What dis iz???
.
Okay, with great shame as a southern boy, I gotta admit that I have not never seen one of these. I grew up on a big old place with a bunch of bushes that "supposedly" bear these. But, I honestly never had seen one until today.
Actually, it fell off of one of those bushes that live here at Andy's Place. I was amazed. I had been told that said bushes actually do bear fruit, but never...not never in 51 years have I actually seen one!
Now, I'm wondering if I should eat it?
If you know what it is, you will wins you a fabrulous prize! The picture is not so good, but the fruit is about 2" in diameter, and there are a bunch of other ones a little bit smaller falling off, too.
I can't believe that I've NEVER seen one as long as I've lived around here...now I've got 'em dropping like flies.
I'm thinking we might ought to bake a pie or something...
What dis iz???

What The Heck Am I??? (#2)
It's hard to believe that this is only the second "What The Heck Am I???" post I've done. I mean, I have posted so many images of barely recognizable THINGS on this blog that I can't imagine I've neglected this wonderful idea I had of quizzing y'all about what the heck something is.
Sigh...
Anyway, one "something" made its' way to Andy's Place today (and it's a loooooooong story that I won't recount...don't bother to thank me), and I'm figuring we could use it for a little Saturday afternoon quiz. This is not something that came off the worldwide computer. Nope! This is a real something that I took a picture of MYSELF!
So, I'm gonna show y'all two pictures of this one "something."
Now, if y'all want to, you can tell me (1) what it REALLY IS, (b) what it looks like to you, and (3) if you could give it a "name," what that name would be.
Ready...Set...GO!
There will not be any prize or anything for the best answer. I have given up on trying to give Sadie away in contests, because y'all have all gotten wise to that (and people quit answering).
Well, maybe we will make recognition of astute quiz answerers when we do our next "What The Heck Am I???" post.
Whenever the heck that is...

What The Heck Am I???
Hey y'all! The Mrs. and I had a fabulous lunch today at Gerald Savoie's in Shreveport, and went for a stroll around the grounds of the Norton Art Gallery. (They've got a great movie deal at that link) Ooooooohhhhh, it is just gorgeous! I took some pictures that I'll show y'all in a couple of days. About 3 or 4 days from now, the entire garden will be at "peak." Norton is world famous for Azaleas. They're blooming, but need a couple of more days.
Anyway, we came across this little bush, and also some trees with the same shape/color leaves.
Now, when the Mrs. doesn't know what some plant is, well...it's odd. Heck, she helped me win all kinda awards in The Mayor's "What's growing in The Mayor's back yard?" quizzes way back.
Her: "I don't know what this is. It kinda looks like pot, though...only red."
Me: "Hey, maybe it's cajun pot! Fertilized with cayenne..."
Her: "One toke is all it takes, huh?"
Me: "Nyuk!"
Her: "One joint will stone the whole crowd!"
Me: "Nyuk!"
Oh man, I love her.
So, what the heck is it? If you know, please let me know. I'm thinking it must not be a controlled substance, and I might want to plant a couple of 'em for the novelty.

What The Heck Am I???
Okay, so I'm ripping off The Mayor. Again. I really don't want to, Mr. Mayor, but this is just way too curious, and I needs me some hep!
As all real blog surfers know, The Mayor of Mitchieville originated "Humpday Hottie." Yessir...he was the man that came up with the whole concept. Just ask him...he'll tell ya'. But, it is a little known computer FACT that The Mayor originated the "What The Hell Am I?" concept. Oh yeah...he's a trailblazer...a blog Pioneer, if you will.
And a stand-up guy, in my book! I mean, he's one of my favorite Canadians, and everything. So, since we've ripped him off on Humpday Hottie posts, we may as well go ahead on and rip him off once again. Our good friend, and glob buddy Staci sent me some suggestions for "Humpday Hottie," and as I was looking through them (btw, they are all OUTSTANDING, and I appreshunate it Staci), I came across one that stumped me...
Now, you've seen the People of Walmart photos out there, and this here is one of them. But, I can not quite discern exactly what this is.
Honestly, I'm stumped. What do y'all think this is?
