I guess I've known deep inside for a long time that I'm trapped in a nation of fools.   

It felt good to hold out hope for the America that was for a little while. 

But, it is what it is.

Time to start dealing with things as they are, and not as I'd like them to be.

Put off the Presidential Election due to Sandy???

I've read a ton of stuff on the worldwide computer...speculation that Hurricane Sandy might cause the 2012 Presidential Election to be put off, due to the severe destruction/the fact that voting won't be either easy, or accessible/etc./yada yada yada...

Truth is, I don't really have much of a problem with that.  As I understand what I've read, each State may well have the authority to switch up the rules to accommodate their citizens in cases of severe calamity.  

But, I also understand that they've all got to get it done by December 11, or December 17.  I'm fuzzy on the exact date.

Regardless, I don't really have a problem with the States that have been hit hard by Sandy to make their own way on this thing.  I mean, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Massachussets (sorry...the red line of misspellin' just will not disappear on that one), The DofC,  Delaware, Maryland, and even over on to Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Ginny, Ginny, and Kentucky, and allbody that doesn't feel like they can give their citizens a fair shake at the voting booths should be able to wait a while to hold they votin'!

So...of those...Romney is probably only going to win Kentucky, WV, VA for sure, PA (maybe, but probably not), and maybe Ohio.

Does anybody think John Kasich is gonna go for a postponement?  Does anybody think that even if Christie postpones the vote, it will make one bit of a difference in NJ?  

Nope.

Point is...

This election is over.

When the returns come in on November 6 (regardless of whether many of the blue States have yet voted), Mitt Romney will have gained enough Electoral Votes to win the Presidency.

Late voting due to Sandy, will only serve to determine election outcomes in the US House, US Senate, and local dogcatcher junk.

So, I for ONE, am not getting too upset about the prospect of a protracted Presidential vote.  In fact...if my scenario plays out, I can see multiple millions of disappointed ObozOites not even going to the trouble of voting (since he's already lost)...possibly giving Republican candidates for the House and Senate races an edge once they gets they power up, and they rooodz open.

And, I just can't not post this...

Okay, since we're down to about 7 regular visitors here at Andy's Place since I decided to quit clogging up the worldwide computer with my foolishness...

I'm just wondering if any of y'all 7 are wondering the same thing that I am.

Do y'all remember back in the 2008 Presidential campaign when many on the right posed the question, "Are people afraid to tell pollsters that they do not support Barack Obama, because somehow they might think the pollster might think that they are a racist?  Is it possible that the polls are wrong, because people do not want to tell a nameless, faceless, somebody that they don't support the black guy?"

It's hard to believe it, but it's been four whole years...four whole miserable years since that question was posed over...and over...and over...and over...

Well, it turns out that ObozO cleaned McCain's clock in the popular vote, and even more so in the electoral college in 2008.  So, maybe the speculation that folks were lying to pollsters just to seem polite, and not a RAAAAAAAAAACIST may have been wrong.

Yet, for old time's sake, I'm asking y'all (all 7 of y'all), if you think maybe there is still that imaginary deal going on.  Is it possible that Romney's 51% spot in Gallup, or his 50% spot in Rasmussen has anything to do with the fact that the poll respondents are afraid NOT to tell the nameless, faceless pollster that are supporting a white Mormon dude, at the risk of being thought to be a whitey-loving, teetotaler?

Just curious.

The President of the United States stopped by our expansive estate for a visit!

I invited him to sit out in the front yard, and he was gracious enough to durrit!

I was thrilled.

I told him that this particular chair was one that was give to me free!  But, it was the color of purple when it was give to me.

Free.

It's a really solid wood and wicker rocking chair (so...I figured  it would suit him just fine, being a "rocker," and all...), but being purple, it just didn't quite fit in with the motif of Andy's Place...so I painted it plain WHITE several  years ago.

Anyway, I told His Majesty that it was once purple, and that I was pretty sure that Purple is Oprah's favorite color.  So, it'd be okay for him to sit in it.

He just kinda' gave me a blank stare...and sat right down.

Here at Andy's Place, we did indeed participate in "National Empty Chair Day."  I see that my blog friend, Pat Austin did, too!

I'm sure that there are thousands of others that did....maybe billions of us.  (Not sure yet, because all of the numbers won't be in until late, seeing as it's a Holiday)

Anyway...he didn't ask much about getting my vote in November.  I guess he figured he'd be wasting his breath...

Yep!  It's election day in Louisiana.  And man...do I EVER feel retarded!


I went off up in the booth fully prepared to cast my ballot for my State Representative.  I had decided on one fellow I really wanted to win.  Turns out he ain't even running in my district.

Evidently, they changed things up while I wasn't lookin'.


Crud.


So, I had the choice between two Democrats.  I voted for the one I had never heard of.


I also voted for another Democrat.  I swear, this is the first time I can remember voting for a Democrat, and I do it twice in one election.  


I was NOT going to vote for Bobby Jindal again, even though he will win easily.  So, I voted for Androniki "Niki Bird" Papazoglakis.  I believe she would make a damn fine governor.   I think she's Greek.  What more could one ask for in a govenor?


Anyway...if you're in Louisiana, remember to go vote.  Lots of fine men and women paid a heavy price so we can.

Now, let me say that I have known his opponent personally for many years, and like her very much.  So, this is not to be construed as an endorsement.  Andy does not do local political endorsements (not even yard signs) for a couple of reasons.


a)  My candidate almost always loses.


b)  Call it "cowardly" if you'd like, but I do not believe in dropping dookie where I sleep.


However, Mr. Peacock is running an ad that I saw for the first time last night.  I can't seem to find it posted on the worldwide computer yet, so I'm going from memory here.


In the ad he says something like, "Some candidates say they want to do more with less.  I believe we should do less with less."


That may not be an exact quote.  But that, my friends, is a great line, and a bitchin' concept!

I got an e-mail from a friend that contained a death announcement.  The announcement was printed in the Rome, Georgia News Tribune.

I sent it in a computer letter to several friends, and got great responses.  But, this is the one that really tickled me.

"I'm almost willing to die to publish something like this, dude."

Obama urges twittering...

This guy is such a friggin' waste of oxygen!!!

The imbecile goes out and commands his retarded supporters to "Keep the pressure on.  Call...e-mail...tweet..."

But, the REALLY, REALLY, REALLY good thing is that ObozO assured the nation that he and his team are going to be hard at work ALL WEEKEND getting this done...so y'all all need to  "tweet," so as to hep the boy out!!!


Keep the pressure on to do exactly what?  


I'm pretty damn sure that anyone that supports ObozO does not have even the slightest idea what they are supposed to twitter specifically.  Maybe they're supposed to "tweet" that "President Obama has got this all figured out.  His plan is what you should support."

Sounds like a good idea for a regular blog quiz.  "Name ObozO's Plan!"  That would be pretty cool, because NOBODY would ever be able to cash in on the prize, because ObozO has NEVER had a plan.  For anything.


Maybe they're supposed to "tweet" about how Harry Reid's plan is bitchin', and cool, and how he really, really knows junk about budgetary things because he has been in Washington for 70 years, and looks so damn youthful, too!  (I know it ain't Christian to make fun of the appearance of folks like Harry, but it's just the cold, hard, truth that the blazing Nevada sun, a lower fiber diet, and making deals with the devil will make your face look like his).

So here we are.  We truly are at a crucial time.  Seriously, this junk can not continue.  And, we've got a President of the United States urging his fellow idiots to "tweet."

And, I had to look at Schumer's frightening mug, and Durbin's shit-eating grin during their lie-fest this evening.


We are so WAY screwed.

(I know that our nation fought a bloody, brutal war over "secession."  I'm thinking that we might ought to look in to "expulsion."  I'm thinking  Illinois, New York, and California would probably be enough to expel.  Using ObozO math, that would get us back down to all 57 States, like it's supposed to be.  I ain't no Constitutional scholar, but I bet there's something in there about cutting out ingrown toe-nails, nose hair, and cancer before you get so damn uncomfortable, ugly, or sick that you die, or look like you already have).


This is serious stuff.  


At this point, I'd say just go ahead on and default.  Go ahead on and affirm to the whole world what it already knows...


We're broke.  We're getting broker.  We've got obligations we can not meet.

In moments like these, when I think about DC, the process, the massive hole those that came before dug, and the way the whole mess is being "played" by the putrid piles of pols,  I'm reminded of  Johnny Cash.

Haven't done any politics lately.  But...


I got off work tonight at 2225 HRS, and headed home.  The bottom of the hour news featured a sound clip of Obozo.  It went something like this...

"We are out of time.  I have told Congressman Boehner, Congresswoman Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Senator McConnell to be here at 11 am!"

It is not possible to convey the "tone" that our Pretender in Chief used to make good and damn sure that EVERYBODY KNOWS that he's gonna get this fixed.  Dammit.


But, I'll swear, it was the most immature, and foolish thing I've heard yet from the Chief Executive of the greatest nation on the planet.  It was one of those "ya' had to hear it yourself" deals.  He sounded just like some of the deranged druggies we have to deal with in the ER, who are so high on some chemical that they actually think they can direct affairs...and do not realize how pitiful and pathetic they are.  At the same time he sounded like a three-year-old who is pissed off at his Mom because she made him turn off CartoonNetwork before he wanted to.


Obama is like that.  My face turned red as I listened to that little POS speaking to the world in that childish tone...


The guy sucks.  And blows. 


I've never been so ashamed for our nation.  I almost cried.

Congress gets one right.

Okay, a little politics here...  Yesterday, The US Senate took one small step towards sanity by repealing the 1099 fiasco provision of the even bigger fiasco, lovingly known as Obamacare.


You have to get deep in the story before you actually find that The Senate voted 87 - 12 to repeal one of the many retarded aspects of the overall retarded package.  If you were not familiar with this, Obamacare has a provision that requires small businesses to 1099 any vendor that they do more than $600 worth of business with in their tax year.


Even though I have a day job, I still operate a small business.  And, like hundreds of thousands of small/tiny businesses across the nation, I was dreading this.  There are several vendors that I spend a great deal more than that with in a year.  And, I have many dozens of customers that spend more than that with me.


In fact, I had already been notified by my online credit card processing company "FirstData," that due to the new regulations, I would be receiving a 1099 for all the gross receipts that they process for me.  So, after I received this notice, I began to scratch my head, wondering if the customers that use our online ordering system would ALSO be 1099ing me.


Example:  (Using round numbers here)  Say I do $100,000 a year in online sales.  Okay, I get a 1099 from FirstData for $100,000.  Okay...  But, within that $100,000, say I have 20 customers that order online for resale in their businesses in excess of $600 annually.  Say those 20 customers purchase $50,000 in product total in a year.  As I understand the law, they would be required to 1099 me also.

My gross income would show to be 50% more than it actually was, and I'd have to back out totals, customer by customer before reporting.  And, then probably get audited.  Again.


I was looking at an accounting nightmare come next April.  Now, larger businesses with offices filled with number crunchers, and accounting clerks probably can just push a couple of buttons and mark it DONE.  But, not so for the hundreds of thousands of us average Joes, that would be forced to wade through stacks of digits just to be able to accurately report final profit/income.

Foolishness like this is one reason that I am a true believer in a national consumption tax, and for scrapping the tax code period.  Billions and billions of dollars would be saved annually (but this is not about that).


Congress got this one right.  Thanks.


Now get busy, and scrap the rest of that crappy legislation the dimocraps rammed down our throats.

I've been off the politics train for a while.  But it behooves me to note that US Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) has been on my radar for quite a while now as one of the up and comers.

Seriously here...it seems to me that ALL the serious patriots that might be able to lead our nation are in the House side of  Congerss TRADEMARK.


Even though he's from WAY DOWN SOUTH from Bossier City, I have looked at his work in the Congerss TRADEMARK., and have found the guy to be made of stern stuff.   Looks like the boy is serious.

Hey y'all!  I'm gonna be really tied up the next four or five days with work, so you'll understand if I don't make my usual rounds, or present the mediocrity y'all have come to expect here at Andy's Place.


Just a quick update.  The Mrs.-in-law's knee replacement surgery went just fine this morning.  Bless her heart, she has NO idea how much it's gonna hurt when they make her stand up on it.  I know when Mom had hers a couple of years ago, she vomited from the pain.


I didn't mention that to The Mrs.-in-law.


But, I found out they've got a new deal like an epidural for that joint where they can manage the pain quite a bit.  So, fingers crossed.


Anyway, it seems that Congressman, Dr. Charles Boustany (R-Southwest Louisiana)...a very fine man btw, has been named Chairman of the Oversight Subcommittee on Ways & Means.


Excellent choice!

My election day predictions.

I started not to do this, because I am almost ALWAYS wrong in making any kind of prediction.  But, I was 5 out of 6 picking last Satiday's College Games, so maybe I'm on a roll.


Probably not, but here goes.


Republicans gain 70 seats in The House.


Republicans gain nine eight seats in The Senate.


Harry Reid will be beaten, but will challenge the results, and the courts will hand him a win eventually. (Thus the eight gains instead of nine).


I'm not picking the Goober races, because I haven't followed them closely.  But, Jerry Brown will probably be elected in California, because California is way screwed, and full of way screwy voters.  I think Tancredo might pull off an upset win in Colorado, but I really don't know.


Of general local/Louisiana interest...


Cedric Glover (D) remains Mayor of Shreveport...probably by 5 to 7 points.


Dr. John Fleming (R) holds his House Seat handily.


David Vitter (R) trounces Charlie Melancon by 15 points, retaining his Senate seat.


To the chagrin of Moon Griffon, Jay Dardenne (RINO - Baton Rouge) will handily win the Lieutenant Goober race.


I can't call the Cao (R)/Richmond (Dumbass) race in New Orleans, because I don't know enough about the race.  But Cedric Richmond is a Democrat that is a criminal.  But, I repeat myself.


All Constitutional Amendments in Louisiana will pass, because they always do.


That's it!  We'll know tomorrow where we stand.
